Welcome to The Broyles’ Flyer! We’re glad you came to visit. Michael & Karen are passionate about using their talents to help others in this world. Their heart for humanitarian work has been evidenced through their service to others. They love what they do and are excited to use their skills to help alleviate suffering and to develop people’s capacity to improve their conditions.
Michael is a pilot and mechanic, and has found a way to use his skills to help others. When he is not flying or turning wrenches on the aircraft, you’ll often find him teaching and training others around him. Working in some of the most remote parts of the world, Michael has experienced the difference that aviation makes – whether it be a simple flight to transport passengers, saving them hours (or even days) of driving, or a life-saving medevac transport.
Michael holds a B.S. in Aviation Technology from Moody Aviation and a M.S. in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. His Federal Aviation Administration certifications include Airline Transport Pilot (ATP), Commercial Pilot (Seaplane), Flight Instructor, Instrument Instructor, Multi-Engine Instructor, Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, and Inspector’s Authorization. His flight experience spans 18 years and almost 7000 hours – mostly in a professional bush flying environment.
Karen is the perfect companion for Michael. Her array of talents is unending – be it teaching, woodworking, writing, or welding. Her primary focus however is caring for their two children and making their home a place of refuge for their family and the many weary travelers they host. Karen’s heart to help others become the best version of themselves never fails to shine through in all that she does.
Karen holds a B.S. in Psychology & Social Work from University of the Cumberlands. Her experience includes counselling, adoption and foster care, probation, administration, and finance. Her experience living overseas has honed her skills and given her a broadened range of application.
